e-Learning

In the event of inclement weather BCSD schools transition to e-Learning. An e-Learning day is considered a regular school day to eliminate the need for makeup days later in the school year therefore, students are expected to complete all assignments for days that e-Learning is used.  Please understand that our staff applies the rules of flexibility and grace as weather systems continue to develop and everyone’s circumstance is different.  Our plan for instruction is below.

Daily Structure

BLHS is recommending your child adhere to the following schedule to complete their work.  Attendance will be monitored through work completion, and we will follow the traditional ten-point grading scale for all assignments.  The recommended daily schedule is listed below:

Time

Class

8:45 – 9:45am

1st Block

10:00 – 11:00am

2nd Block

11:00am - Noon

Lunch

12:15 – 1:15pm

3rd Block

1:30 – 2:30pm

4th Block

2:45 – 3:45pm

Teacher Office Hours

e-Learning will take place via a variety of modes that each individual teacher will communicate to their students.  Those options include live Zoom sessions, pre-recorded lessons, videos, and assignments loaded into Google Classroom.  Teachers will be available to students during regular work hours.  They will offer office hours every day from 2:45-3:45 for students to check in should they have lingering questions from the daily content for any of their classes.

Adjustments

Should our area be impacted with network outages or power failures, students should do their best to attempt the work.  If they are unable to complete the assignments due to conditions from the weather, they will have 5 days to submit work upon return from eLearning.  If they ultimately do not complete the work within 5 days of returning to school, they will be marked absent for the e-Learning Day(s) and assignment(s) will receive a zero in the gradebook.
