Programs

Bluffton High School is a school of choice option for families in the Beaufort County School District. The school choice window is open every year from November to January. Beaufort County students who attend choice programs do not pay extra tuition, although families are responsible for their students’ transportation if they live outside of school attendance zones. A lottery will be held if the number of choice applications would cause Bluffton High School to exceed its overall enrollment capacity, or if approved applications would push an individual choice program beyond its capacity.

Career and Technical Education Pathways

Career and Technical Education Pathways students can earn college credits and national career-related certifications in the following areas: Emergency and Fire Management, Family and Consumer Sciences, Media Technology, and Allied Health Sciences.

The Allied Health Sciences Pathway teaches the foundational skills needed by healthcare professionals who work in therapeutic, diagnostic, health informatics, support services, and biotechnology research and includes internship/clinical opportunities. Many of these opportunities are available through our partnerships with the Academy for Career Excellence, Technical College of the Lowcountry, and select community businesses.

Advanced Placement Capstone

Rather than teaching subject specific content, this program develops students’ skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing, and presenting. Students who complete the two-year program can earn one of two different AP Capstone awards: AP Capstone Diploma™ or the AP Seminar and Research Certificate™.

Visual and Performing Arts

Army JROTC

The Army JROTC is available to Bluffton and May River attendance zone students only. JROTC curriculum addresses the South Carolina College & Career-Readiness Standards which include leadership, global awareness, wellness, and life skills. The curriculum strives to promote learner-centered education that inspires life-long learning, improved communication, personal responsibility, good citizenship, overall respect, and critical thinking skills.

Mission:

To motivate young people to become better citizens.

Purpose:

Gain leadership potential and the ability to live and work cooperatively with others. Demonstrate leadership in situations involving conflict resolution.

Project Lead the Way

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering and Biomedical Sciences prepares students for STEM careers by emphasizing hands-on engagement and problem solving. PLTW Biomedical Sciences offers an innovative learning environment providing students with the skills and training necessary to succeed in a postsecondary healthcare career.
