Personal Message

My goal is to bring energy and enthusiasm for the creative process into the ceramics classroom.  I want to motivate students to understand how art reflects and enhances their lives.  I want them to understand how the creative process and the ability to analyze and think critically enrich not only the artistic experience but help us to understand, cope with and navigate through all aspects of contemporary life.

In ceramics class students will:

  1. Build a background by developing a knowledge and appreciation of art history and the role of the artist in society.
  2. Develop skills in creativity and idea development.
  3. Develop critical thinking skills, understanding and relating how other subject areas apply to their art experiences.
  4. Develop a strong artistic vocabulary.
  5. Develop a sense of good craftsmanship.
  6. Recognize the necessity of hard work.
